Gabby Agbonlahor sends message to Evann Guessand after joining Aston Villa

Aston Villa unveiled Evann Guessand as their latest signing on Friday.

The former Nice striker has joined Villa Park with an excellent reputation after some top performances in Ligue 1.

Last season, the Ivory Coast international registered 20 goal contributions in just 33 league matches.

Now, Villa have sealed the £30.5million transfer of Guessand, much to the delight of legend Gabby Agbonlahor.

Gabby Agbonlahor welcomes Guessand to Aston Villa

Agbonlahor has remained a prominent figure at Aston Villa since his retirement.

His views on the Birmingham club have consistently emerged throughout the transfer window, especially on potential departures.

Agbonlahor recently claimed that moving from Aston Villa to Manchester United is a backwards move.

Now, the Aston Villa legend has quickly reacted to the announcement of Guessand.

Villa announced the signing via their Instagram on 8 August, with a series of videos and photos.

One post featured Guessand, with the striker saying: “When I heard the club wanted me, I didn’t think twice.”

This prompted a response from Agbonlahor, who then commented on the post saying: “No one thinks twice with Aston Villa! Welcome sir!” A purple love heart then followed.

Ollie Watkins on the way out?

One of the biggest issues with Guessand’s transfer is it makes Ollie Watkins’ future at Villa more complication.

Watkins expressed his frustrations at being left on the bench last season for Marcus Rashford, and there is a danger that this could recur under the Ivorian.

The England international isn’t short of suitors, with plenty of teams interested in the Villa star.

Man United have been heavily linked to Watkins throughout the summer, and this move could now make this transfer possible.

Hopefully, Unai Emery has a plan to get both Watkins and Guessand in the starting XI in the new campaign.
