Aston Villa and Liverpool will be glad to see the back of Ismaila Sarr as Anfield clash looms

Ismaila Sarr continues to haunt Aston Villa and Liverpool.

The Senegal international scored as Crystal Palace beat Villa 3-0, as a tragic start to the campaign unfolded at Villa Park.

Arne Slot has had similar struggles in recent weeks and is now looking ahead to a Liverpool clash against Villa at Anfield.

The Reds will be keen to move on after falling to a 3-0 defeat against Palace on Wednesday, with former Villa transfer target Sarr getting on the scoresheet twice.

Villa and Liverpool both share a fear of Sarr ahead of their meeting as the forward regularly makes his presence felt against them.

Sarr scored two for Crystal Palace vs Liverpool in Carabao Cup

Liverpool have a Premier League clash against Villa ahead of them and as a result named a much-changed starting 11 to face the Eagles.

It is safe to say that this didn’t pay off as the Merseyside outfit were battered in terms of chances, despite having more possession on the night.

Sarr had the most telling impact in L4 as the 27-year-old got bagged a brace before Yeremi Pino made it a dream night with Palace’s third.

The Senegalese ace only played for 62 minutes, but still managed five shots and maintained a 100 per cent accuracy rate.

He also chipped in with three defensive actions and won three duels, all while helping secure a Carabao Cup quarter-final place.

His two strikes didn’t come as a massive surprise for the Anfield faithful, and it left shivers spreading down spines at Villa Park after what’s happened in recent years.

Sarr loves playing against Aston Villa and Liverpool

Liverpool fans may feel hard done by as the Senegal international has netted seven goals and assisted two in his nine games against them.

Sarr has played more career matches against the Reds than against any other team, but that hasn’t translated into his best performances with either Crystal Palace or Watford.

The winger has played eight times against the Villans and has won seven, but that is just the tip of the iceberg in B6.

The ex-Marseille man has scored eight and assisted three against the claret and blue outfit, becoming a huge villain to the Villans.

These 15 goals against Villa and Liverpool count for 46 per cent of Sarr’s goals across the Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup, proving just how profitable these clashes are for him.

Aston Villa could have signed Sarr from Watford

Villa could have ended all this frustration had Steven Gerrard completed a deal to sign the attacker from Watford back in 2022.

It had looked as if the Midlands club were set to land the then 24-year-old to add attacking quality and pace to his squad.

A deal eventually fell through, and he moved on to Marseille before then finding himself at Crystal Palace, where his goalscoring exploits against Villa have continued.

Emery and Co. won’t face Palace and Sarr until the new year, so until then, they have seen the back of the winger and his annoying goalscoring habits.
