Supercomputer predicts Aston Villa’s final Premier League position after win vs Man City
Unai Emery will be elated with Aston Villa’s performance against Manchester City on Sunday.
Aston Villa claimed all three points with a 2-1 victory against Man City to make it four wins in their last five Premier League games.
While Matty Cash made the difference for Villa, Amadou Onana was Emery’s unsung hero of the afternoon, making several defensive interventions.
The Villans’ current form marks a sharp turnaround from their lacklustre start to the season, and there is no doubt that fans will already be dreaming about a top-four finish again.

Aston Villa predicted to finish fifth in the Premier League
Emi Buendia was spotted on crutches after Villa’s win in scenes that most likely brought supporters back down to earth after their victory.
According to Opta’s Supercomputer, Villa are currently expected to finish fifth in the Premier League, which could add to the disappointment felt after Buendia’s injury.
- There is a 1.50 per cent chance the Villans become title winners
- Villa have a 25.01 per cent chance of UEFA Champions League football
- This is 1.52 per cent less than Chelsea, who are predicted fourth place
Despite Villa’s shock defeat to Go Ahead Eagles in the UEFA Europa League, fans will fancy themselves to win the competition.

If all goes to plan, securing Champions League football would be the icing on the cake at the end of the season, and while the Villans are currently predicted to finish fifth, their position on the table will no doubt rise if their stellar form continues.

Unai Emery must unlock Ollie Watkins again
While Villa are winning games in the Premier League, there are questions around how sustainable this will be without their star striker in form.
Indeed, Ollie Watkins has netted just one goal in nine league appearances in what has been a slow start to the season for the England international.
Now, an argument could be made that he has still contributed to Villa through his link-up play and by creating space for his teammates by dragging defenders towards him.
However, a striker’s most important objective is to score, and Watkins has struggled in this regard.
For several seasons, he has been the player his teammates have turned to when they need a goal, and Emery will have a greater chance of securing the top four if he can unlock this version of Watkins again.
