Oliver Glasner’s ‘dream move’ revealed as Crystal Palace boss linked with replacing Unai Emery at Aston Villa
Oliver Glasner has been linked with the Aston Villa job amid questions over Unai Emery’s future at Villa Park.
Emery is under pressure at Villa, after a dismal start to the season that saw the Villans fail to win any of their opening six games across all competitions.
Recent wins against Bologna, Fulham and Feyenoord have shelved any immediate questions for now, but the Spaniard remains under close inspection.
Glasner has been touted as a superb potential alternative for Villa, with the Austrian leading Crystal Palace to a superb start to the season following a FA Cup-winning campaign.
Should Emery be shown the door at Villa Park, Glasner is the favourite to take over at Villa.

Oliver Glasner dreams of taking over at German giants
Glasner and Emery faced off earlier this season, with Crystal Palace beating Villa 3-0 at Villa Park.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt boss has continued to transform the Eagles into a Premier League force, despite losing Eberechi Eze in the summer.
Beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final last season, Crystal Palace have gone from strength to strength under Glasner, and hold a 19-game unbeaten streak across all competitions.
Decision-makers would hope Glasner can make a similar impact if he did make the move, as Villa await their first trophy since 1996.
But in a boost to Emery, the Austrian’s ideal move has been revealed to be taking charge at Bayern Munich.
Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon on Sunday that Glasner dreams of leading the German giants, and even should he sign a new contract at Selhurst Park, any deal could include a release clause applicable to Bayern Munich.
Unai Emery can win the Europa League for Villa
Even if Glasner made himself available to Villa, decision-makers would likely be hesitant to let Emery go.
The Spaniard has enjoyed a massive impact on the Villans over the last few years, and, if history is anything to go by, holds the key to that much-desired trophy.
Europa League – manager | Games | Points |
Unai Emery | 104 | 219 |
Giovanni Trapattoni | 98 | 180 |
Jorge Jesus | 80 | 149 |
Jose Mourinho | 72 | 136 |
Juande Ramos | 66 | 130 |
Emery is both the record-winner of the Europa League, and holds the record for the most points earned by a manager in the competition.
Villa have made a good start to their European campaign this season, and will be confident that Emery can deliver the trophy in May.
