Jadon Sancho update shared as 11 players confirmed out in Feyenoord vs Aston Villa team news latest

Aston Villa will be without several players when they face Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday.

Donyell Malen will hope to beat Feyenoord for the first time, with the forward holding connections to the other two of the ‘Big Three’ in the Netherlands, Ajax and PSV.

The Dutchman is among several players hoping to be named in the starting line-up, but Unai Emery is unlikely to heavily rotate against Feyenoord.

The Villans have finally looked to start turning their season around after two consecutive victories, and the Spaniard will be reluctant to tempt fate by making wholesale changes.

Villa are the favourites against Feyenoord, despite Robin van Persie‘s team being in superb form in the Eredivisie.

Unai Emery confirms Jadon Sancho among several absences

Feyenoord are set to be without Quentin Timber for the visit of Villa, after the midfielder picked up an injury last week.

Timber, the twin brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien, is a key presence in the middle for Van Persie’s team and will be a big miss for the home side.

The Netherlands international is among five players set to be missing for Feyenoord, also including Gernot Trauner, Thomas Beelen, Jakud Moder, and talented defender Malcolm Jeng.

Villa, too, will be without a number of key names, with Jadon Sancho set to be among them after Emery confirmed that the winger is still recovering from the sickness that kept him out of the Fulham clash.

Tyrone Mings was forced off on Sunday, and will be out until after the international break while he deals with an ankle issue.

Youri Tielemans, Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley and Andres Garcia will continue to be sidelined for Thursday’s game.

Emery bullish despite Villa injury issues

Feyenoord have been in superb form this season, winning six and drawing one of their opening seven Eredivisie games.

But Villa will be confident that they can emerge victorious from Rotterdam, after two much-needed wins over the last week.

Emery’s side beat both Bologna and Fulham, with Ollie Watkins getting on the scoresheet for the first time this season in the latter game.

The Villa boss said in the build-up to Thursday’s game: “We have as well some young players, and we have enough players to get collectively and individually good performances, and get confidence to try to play, competing against Feyenoord.”
