Aston Villa fans thrilled with ‘perfect’ Unai Emery decision vs Feyenoord

Aston Villa are looking to carry on their winning run against Feyenoord in the Europa League.

Amadou Onana, Youri Tielemans and Ross Barkley are still unavailable for Thursday’s clash, which is being televised on TNT Sports.

Unai Emery was under pressure at Aston Villa, with his side sitting third bottom on just two points in the Premier League before the 3-1 win against Fulham.

The Villans are looking to continue their strong start to the Europa League after a 1-0 win against Bologna last week, but face a tough test against Robin van Persie’s side.

Pau Torres starts vs Feyenoord

Tyrone Mings is unavailable for Aston Villa after he was replaced by Pau Torres 32 minutes into the win against Fulham.

Unai Emery has decided to stick with Torres in defence as he partners Ezri Konsa for the clash against Feyenoord.

Jadon Sancho also won’t be available to Emery as he is still recovering from an illness picked up last week.

Worries regarding a potential injury to Emi Martinez forced the Villans to start Marco Bizot against Bologna.

However, the Argentine returned against Fulham and will continue in net against Villa’s Dutch opponents.

Morgan Rogers keeps his place in the starting eleven alongside Ollie Watkins, with Emi Buendia replacing Harvey Elliott.

One fan reacted to the lineup on X, writing: “Pau Torres ball” followed by two heart eye emojis following the announcement.

Another replied: “That back line is perfect, oh my God,” with Matty Cash and Ian Maatsen on either side of the centre back pairing.

Another user added: “Pau and Maatsen starting” followed by two heart eye emojis.

Aston Villa can keep another clean sheet vs Feyenoord

Having already kept a clean sheet against Bologna last week, the Villans look set for another shutout.

Torres and Konsa have started to show their quality recently and stepped up in the win against Fulham.

Equally, Feyenoord are light on strikers and although their league form is strong, they failed to find the net in their last Europa League outing in a 1-0 defeat to Braga.

Now is the chance for Torres and Maatsen to step up, especially with the injury for Mings.
