Premier League’s announcement for Aston Villa vs Fulham boosts hopes of back-to-back victories
Aston Villa host Fulham this weekend in the Premier League as they still seek their first win of the campaign.
Unai Emery’s men are struggling in front of goal, but luckily had John McGinn score Villa’s only goal in the win against Bologna in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Villa fans are still concerned about their worrying form, having scored just one goal in the top-flight, and concerns have been replicated by the thousands of empty seats for their league phase opener.
Plenty of tickets still remain for Aston Villa’s clash with Fulham, and the Premier League have now made a new announcement for their game.

Andy Madley set to take charge of Aston Villa vs Fulham
For the first time since Aston Villa’s 2-0 loss to Wolves on 1 February, Andy Madley will officiate the Villans’ encounter this weekend.
The Premier League confirmed this weekend’s refereeing appointments in an announcement on their official website.
Madley is one of the most experienced referees in the Premier League, and the Villans have had contrasting fortunes with him in the middle in the past.
Emery’s side had a decision go in their favour last weekend as Sunderland’s Reinildo was sent off for a kick out on Matty Cash.
Sunderland | Team | Aston Villa |
1.05 | Expected goals | 0.71 |
14 | Shots | 12 |
4 | On target | 2 |
14 | Fouls committed | 8 |
Cash went on to score the opener from long range against the Mackems, but the man advantage wasn’t enough for them to keep hold of the lead.
Donyell Malen had a goal disallowed in the defeat to Wolves last season, with Morgan Rogers judged to have been in an offside position in the build-up by Madley and VAR.
The hosts scored a 97th-minute goal to go two up, in a game that featured 33 fouls, with 13 made by Emery’s side.
Aston Villa record with Andy Madley in charge
In the defeat to Wolves last season, Madley had to count the number of Aston Villa players who were on the pitch after confusion over how many substitutions had been made.
Madley has been an official Premier League referee since 2019, having been a match official for 11 top-flight matches during the 2019-2020 season.
Last season, he was in charge of 20 Premier League matches.
Last four Aston Villa games refereed by Madley:
- Wolves 2-0 Aston Villa, 1 Feb 2025
- Aston Villa 6-1 Brighton, 30 Sept 2023
- Chelsea 0-2 Aston Villa, 1 Apr 2023
- Crystal Palace 3-1 Aston Villa, 20 Aug 2022
Villa have been refereed by him 24 times, and he was in the middle for Aston Villa during their 6-1 win against Brighton in September 2023.
Ollie Watkins scored a hat-trick that day, and supporters will be hoping he can regain that form against Fulham on Sunday.
