Manuel Locatelli wages revealed amid bombshell Aston Villa transfer news

Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli.

Locatelli is reportedly no longer considered untouchable by Juventus, with Villa, alongside multiple other Premier League clubs, interested in securing his signature in the January window.

The Italian midfielder, 27, would be a welcome addition to the Villans’ midfield, especially when considering the injury that Youri Tielemans picked up against Everton.

However, with Monchi no longer in charge of signings, it remains to be seen whether Villa will be smarter when it comes to the wages they hand out for new signings.

Some of Monchi’s recruitment was criticised by Stan Collymore and rightly so, when considering the extortionate wages handed out to the likes of Donyell Malen.

With Roberto Olabe set to take up Monchi’s old role at Villa, supporters will be hoping Olabe can run the B6 outfit more wisely.

According to Capology, Locatelli earns around £128,000 per week at Juventus.

This works out at around £6.7million per annum for the midfielder.

With Unai Emery’s squad in desperate need of a refresh, Locatelli could add some extra quality to a struggling Villa side in their engine room.

Manuel Locatelli would be an upgrade on Amadou Onana

With Villa in a constant battle with PSR, Olabe may choose to get some of the high earners, like Onana, off the books for cheaper alternatives who can do an equal or better job.

The data suggests that while Onana is a better ball carrier and better at winning duels, Locatelli is far superior on the ball, with more of his passes being progressive.

Locatelli is also better at winning back possession, which is another attribute Emery and Co will surely be analysing ahead of any potential move.

The Italian is also injured far less than Onana, playing considerably more minutes than the Villa midfielder last season.
