Aston Villa happy see Monchi go after bizarre reason behind exit revealed
Monchi left his role as President of Footballing Operations at Aston Villa on Tuesday.
Monchi was labelled as being “hyped up” by Simon Jordan, who felt the Spaniard did not live up to his massive reputation during his stint at Villa Park, which lasted just over two years.
Jordan was not the only one to be critical of the former Sevilla sporting director, with former Villa striker Stan Collymore claiming Villa’s recruitment has been poor under Monchi.
Despite the terrible start the Villans have made this season, reports from Spain are suggesting that this was not the reason behind Monchi’s departure.

Monchi decision to leave Villa an ’emotional’ one per reports
With Unai Emery potentially following Monchi out the door at Villa, the B6 outfit could be set for some radical changes in the coming weeks.
Reports from Diario de Sevilla on 23 September claim that Villa’s former President of Footballing Operations’ decision to leave was more an “emotional” one rather than a footballing one.
“The leaden skies of Birmingham have had as much or more weight in Monchi’s decision than the terrible start of Aston Villa”, wrote the Spanish outlet in a claim that will leave Villa supporters scratching their heads.
Whilst in the short term it is said to be unlikely, the 57-year-old has been linked with another return to Sevilla, with Monchi being admired by Antonio Lappi and Fede Quintero if they take over at the Spanish club, which could happen in 2027 at the earliest.

Villa will be happy to see the back of Monchi
Having an emotional character in such an important position in a club is never going to end well, and it was only a matter of time before Monchi left Villa out of the blue.
The fact that he is potentially lining up a third stint at Sevilla is comical, given his record of only staying at clubs for a couple of years before moving on.
Monchi came with a massive reputation, and ultimately, he did not deliver, with players such as Donyell Malen being underwhelming since arriving at the club.
Villa supporters will be hoping Roberto Olabe can provide some much-needed stability, as opposed to Monchi, who seemingly let the weather dictate his mood and his decision whether to stay or leave.
