Morgan Rogers slams Sunderland over video posted on social media – he has a point

Aston Villa struggled in their 1-1 draw with Sunderland despite having a man advantage for most of the game.

Sunderland’s Reinildo was given a straight red as he kicked out at Matty Cash following a coming together between the pair.

Cash went on to give Aston Villa the lead with a swerving long-range strike, before they were pegged back by a late Wilson Isidor equaliser.

The Villans again didn’t look at their best during the game, but they had their fair share of battles and bruises as the hosts committed 14 fouls.

Morgan Rogers reacts to dangerous tackle made on him vs Sunderland

Morgan Rogers hasn’t been at his best for the Villans so far this season.

Tottenham made an approach for Rogers in the summer, with Villa adamant that they weren’t going to sell the youngster.

Since the speculation, he has gone on to struggle in claret and blue, but looked back to his best during England’s 5-0 win against Serbia.

However, Rogers wasn’t at his best in the draw with Sunderland, with supporters wanting him to be dropped.

During the fixture, Mackems defender Trai Hume clattered the former Middlesbrough youngster in a foul that was seen by many as a red card.

The incident went unpunished, but left Rogers on the ground following the painful challenge.

Following the game, Sunderland’s official club website posted a video of the incident, which they captioned “Still got the ball”, followed by a shrugging emoji.

In reply, Rogers reposted the video to his story, writing: “Great message to put out… dangerous tackles getting highlight reels.”

The Villa forward had a point with his reply, with the clip clearly nothing to be proud of for the Black Cats.

If the foul was the other way round, there is no doubt that Sunderland fans would have been calling for at least a yellow card.

Morgan Rogers to be dropped for Aston Villa vs Bologna

Rogers hasn’t been at his best for a while now, which is surprising after he was firing on all cylinders last season.

The forward could be dropped in a double change for Aston Villa’s Europa League clash with Bologna.

Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott both looked a lot more creative than their attacking counterparts in their substitute appearances at the Stadium of Light.

Ollie Watkins could also make way, as he failed to get on the end of multiple crosses and has yet to click with Rogers up front.

After such a poor run of form, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Unai Emery make wholesale changes for the clash.
