Morgan Rogers has checked out at Aston Villa amid exit transfer clanger

Morgan Rogers seemingly has his mind on a move away from Aston Villa.

The England international has had a poor campaign so far, summed up as Rogers was terrible for Villa against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

This saw him have very little impact as Villa drew 1-1 away to Sunderland in what was yet another dismal day for Unai Emery and Co.

He wasn’t alone in that, with Evann Guessand also struggling for Villa at Sunderland, as the B6 club failed to secure their first win of the campaign.

Off the back of this, supporters are likely to be less than impressed with the antics of Rogers in the media, as his focus appears to be away from Villa Park.

There was no lack of interest in the attacking midfielder throughout the summer, but the claret and blue outfit never wanted to let him go.

It appears that Chelsea could pay Villa a record fee for Rogers in the future, but for now, he remains a regular under Emery in the Midlands.

This comes despite a string of hugely frustrating performances, which have left fans questioning why he continues to start on a weekly basis.

It is fair to say that with this string of poor showings, there is a sour taste in the mouth of supporters, something which is now only likely to get worse.

This comes after a fraudulent slip, which saw Rogers accidentally reveal to Sky Sports News that he would keep his squad number if he were to move away from Villa Park.

He said: “I picked that [number 27], but I wasn’t necessarily sold on it. But then I had a good loan, and it kind of stuck with me. So, it’s always the number that I’ll pick if I go to a club, if…”

The Englishman caught himself by the end of the sentence, but the damage has been done, and it is clear where his thoughts are right now, and it’s not with Aston Villa.

Aston Villa could now sell Morgan Rogers

It feels as if the value of the Englishman has already fallen quite heavily since the summer window.

This comes after a lack of influence from Rogers, something which has been felt as Villa have scored just one Premier League goal.

If it wasn’t for Matty Cash and a massive stroke of luck, this record may not even be on the table after a general lack of attacking impetus at the Stadium of Light.

With that being said, Villa could look to sell Rogers in the upcoming transfer windows with the hope of securing the largest fee possible, especially if this poor run continues.
