Sunderland vs Aston Villa result predicted by supercomputer
Aston Villa are still looking for their first win of the new campaign as they prepare to face Sunderland.
Although Harvey Elliott scored Villa’s first goal of the season, it was not enough to stop them from being knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties by Brentford.
Unai Emery’s side will make the trip to the Stadium of Light to face newly promoted Sunderland on Sunday, in what appears to be a winnable game for Villa on paper.
Emery will have some big selection choices to make going into the game, with new signing Jadon Sancho failing to impress Paul Merson on his debut.

Aston Villa predicted to pick up first win of the season
Whilst Emery may not be feeling the pressure now, if his side falls to another defeat against Sunderland, then NSWE may begin to consider the Spaniard’s position at Villa Park.
According to Opta, Villa supporters will not have to wait too much longer to see their side get back to winning ways, with their supercomputer predicting them to pick up all three points against Sunderland.
- Villa’s chances of winning sit at 55 per cent
- Sunderland are said to have a 22 per cent chance of winning the game
- A draw has been given a 22 per cent chance of occurring
Considering Morgan Rogers’ disappointing start to the season, it will be interesting to see if Elliott replaces him in the number ten position after the former Liverpool man impressed against Brentford in midweek.

Jadon Sancho cannot start against Sunderland
Although it is only early in the season, Villa’s game against Sunderland has become a must-win.
For this reason, Emery cannot afford to start Sancho, who is evidently still building up to full match sharpness following his disappointing display in the Carabao Cup.
At best, the Manchester United loanee should be limited to a 20 or so-minute cameo appearance.
Emery should also consider dropping Ollie Watkins if he does not have a better performance against Sunderland, with reports suggesting that Watkins regrets not leaving Villa over the summer.
