Staggering new details emerge on Emi Martinez’s collapsed move to Manchester United
Emi Martinez was close to agreeing an Aston Villa exit to join Manchester United.
Martinez made contact with Lisandro Martinez at Man United late in the window as he looked to force through a late move to Old Trafford.
This came after weeks of Villa exit links to United for Martinez, but he ultimately remained at Villa Park despite his apparent desire to leave.
As a result, Martinez returned to the Villa side against Everton as he looks to rebuild bridges with Unai Emery and the claret and blue faithful.
Now, details of Martinez’s failed Red Devils move has emerged after a turbulent transfer deadline day at Bodymoor Heath.

Emi Martinez transfer details emerge at Manchester United
There is no hiding away from the fact that Martinez was superb for Villa against Everton, despite everything that has happened in B6.
The general feeling around the Argentine was poor, but that has improved somewhat after what was a positive performance on Merseyside.

As Villa fans try to move forward from this, further details have now emerged out of Old Trafford, explaining why a deal fell through.
The Telegraph reported on 19 September that United had a deal agreed for Senne Lammens with Royal Antwerp, alongside the opportunity to sign Martinez.
Amorim’s side are said to have made a loan enquiry at Villa Park, but a fee in the region of £30million was demanded by the B6 club.
Any hope of a deal being completed were also scuppered by the Argentine’s wage expectations of £10m per year, equating to over £200k-a-week with the Red Devils, in what is a staggering reveal.

Aston Villa won’t care about Emi Martinez saga now
Fortunately for Martinez, there are much bigger problems going down in the Midlands than his failed move to the faltering Red Devils.
With Villa yet to secure a single win this season, there will be high hopes that the tide can be changed against Sunderland this weekend.
As a result, there is a lack of focus on Martinez, something which has been helped by his performance against Everton on his return to the side.
He will have to be at that same level again at the Stadium of Light if Villa are going to get anything from the clash in the north east.
