Jadon Sancho leaves former Aston Villa player completely baffled, he can’t start vs Sunderland
Jadon Sancho has been brought to Aston Villa to try to turn around his career.
Sancho made his Aston Villa debut against Brentford in the Carabao Cup during the week, but failed to inspire much confidence.
Sancho looked off the pace for Villa in his debut, which is understandable considering the lack of football the Englishman has had.
The former Manchester United man was brought to Villa Park to help provide an attacking spark that has been sorely missed so far this campaign.
Opinions on the 25-year-old have always been mixed, and a former Villa midfielder has weighed in to give his say.

Jadon Sancho ‘has to take risks’ to succeed at Aston Villa – Paul Merson
Villa travel to Sunderland this weekend as they search for their first win and goals of the season.
Paul Merson has been previewing the fixture and has given his verdict on Sancho’s start at Villa.
Speaking to Sportskeeda on 18 September, he said: “I don’t know what Jadon Sancho is doing at the moment. He’s not running at anybody, not committing people and not taking chances!”
Merson also said he doesn’t expect to see Sancho from the start against Sunderland at the weekend, adding: “I’d be shocked if he starts this game.
“Sancho needs to stop playing it safe and has to take risks with the ball at his feet. Try to make things happen instead of just passing it around.”
Unai Emery praised Sancho following the Brentford game, but Merson has been clearly unimpressed by what he’s seen from the winger.
While Sancho clearly has the ability, the lack of urgency in his play has clearly irritated Merson, who wants to see more from him.

Unai Emery will need Jadon Sancho to help solve attacking woes
Emery has yet to see his side score a Premier League goal four games into the season.
The Spaniard will now look to the likes of Sancho to help provide some attacking spark and lift the load off Ollie Watkins.
- Jadon Sancho was signed by Manchester United for £73 million in 2021
- He spent last season on loan at Chelsea, scoring 5 goals
- Sancho has won 23 caps for England, the last of which was in 2021
While Sancho hasn’t shown his best on the pitch in a while, a change of scenery in the Midlands may be what he needs to deliver.
Villa will need him to deliver soon, with fans already frustrated with their misfiring forward line.
