Aston Villa insider reveals hierarchy’s view on Emi Martinez transfer conduct
Emi Martinez’s attitude has come under question by Aston Villa fans after the transfer saga over the summer.
Martinez was straight back into Aston Villa’s starting 11 against Everton after a turbulent transfer deadline day.
During transfer deadline day, Martinez was waiting for a call that never came from Manchester United, and supporters wondered how long it would take the Argentine to get back into the team.
With the affects of the transfer window starting to cool off, and Villa supporters still unsure of how long the 33-year-old will remain at Villa Park, details have emerged.

Emi Martinez attitude ‘promising’ after Everton draw
Marco Bizot started in goal for Aston Villa as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup against Brentford.
The Dutchman’s form has been up and down since joining from Brest, with Bizot at fault for two goals in the defeat to Crystal Palace.
With an important game against Sunderland at the weekend, his Argentine counterpart is expected to return to the team.
According to the Daily Mail [19 September], Martinez’s manner has not always impressed the Villa hierarchy, but his return at Everton last week was promising.
Timeline of Martinez’s actions:
- January 2025: Contact made between Martinez’s representatives and Manchester United
- May 2025: Martínez appears emotional during Aston Villa’s final home game, waving to the fans
- Summer 2025: Manchester United makes a loan inquiry that is rejected by Aston Villa.
- August 31, 2025: Martínez is left out of the Aston Villa squad for their match against Crystal Palace.
Along with Tyrone Mings and John McGinn, the 33-year-old is Villa’s strongest personality, and after a run of no wins this season, his leadership could be valuable.

How much longer does Emi Martinez have left at Aston Villa?
There still remains the fear that Martinez will push to leave Villa in the January transfer window.
It will be performances on the pitch that determine whether fans can rebuild that trust with a player who has been hugely popular throughout his time at the club.
Martinez will have to continue to train hard and regain Emery’s trust if he wants to keep his place in the side.
The Argentine showed his importance as he made two important saves and was commanding in the 0-0 draw with Everton.
Martinez’s current contract runs until 2029, when the keeper will be 37, but given recent uncertainty and that he will likely drop off in form, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him leave next summer.
