Aston Villa happy to accept £15m to green light Donyell Malen sale already

Donyell Malen could already be on his way out of Aston Villa.

Malen signed for Villa from Borussia Dortmund in January, but has failed to truly break through and become a starting regular at Villa Park.

This has seen Unai Emery be accused of favouritism against Malen, after what has been a frustrating spell in claret and blue for the Netherlands international.

It is fair to say that this continued as the versatile forward started for Villa in the Carabao Cup against Brentford, as the claret and blue outfit lost on penalties in the capital.

Despite this, Malen could now be on his way out of B6 with a cut-price fee potentially set to be agreed for him to leave in the coming months.

Donyell Malen could leave Aston Villa after 12 months

With the financial issues that the Villans have overseen in recent times, the signing of the Dutchman is one that doesn’t really make sense.

Malen hasn’t even impressed with the Netherlands this campaign, raising further concerns over the reported £140,000-per-week that the attacker is being paid in the Midlands.

This could see Villa look to part ways with the ex-PSV man soon to recoup as much of the fee, rising up to £27.7million that was spent on him in January.

With that being said, ex-Villa employee King believes that a deal in the region of £15m could be accepted by Emery and Co. in the near future.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “It’s always difficult when you bring a new player in, and I was a bit unsure about him when he came in.

“He’s not one of those players who are in the top class.

He was brought in with great expectations, but hasn’t fulfilled them.

“He’s not a player who excites me, and I don’t think he’ll help them to challenge for a Champions League spot again.

“I think they’d be happy to sell him for £15m and they could maybe secure a package that would take it up to £20m.”

Donyell Malen deserves a fair chance at Aston Villa

There aren’t many players who are as well-liked on the terraces at Villa Park right now as Malen, as fans want to see more of him this season.

The Dutchman has electric pace and has already shown, when given an opportunity, that he can find the back of the net in claret and blue.

As a result, selling him too soon could prove to be a mistake, especially at a loss after just a year of service since his move from Dortmund.

Emery would be better placed to feature him more regularly and get a fair account of his talents before allowing him to move on next summer if needs be.
