Aston Villa have sealed ‘fabulous’ signing, ‘he’s too good’ – Jamie Redknapp
Aston Villa’s woeful start to the season continued following their 0-0 draw against Everton.
Villa are yet to score a goal in the Premier League, becoming only the fifth side in the history of the competition to achieve this.
Despite being recently placed with a valuation of £60m, the goals have dried up for Ollie Watkins, whilst Unai Emery is yet to get the best out of Evann Guessand.
With Villa in desperate need of goalscoring input, Jamie Redknapp touts one new star to be a major success at the club.

Harvey Elliott praised by Jamie Redkanpp
Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of Aston Villa’s third-round Carabao Cup tie against Brentford, Redknapp had great words to say about Elliott.
He said: “I feel that this is a good club for him to go and play, go and show what he can do on a regular basis.
“He’s too good to be playing in and out of the team; he needs to play regularly to show what he’s about.
“He was fabulous for the England U21s in the summer, I thought he was the best player at the tournament.”
- Made his Premier League debut aged 16 for Fulham
- Won the Euro Player of the Tournament award for England U21s in 2025
- Joined Aston Villa from Liverpool on deadline day for £35m
Elliott won the Premier League last season, but played a rotational role in the squad, having to compete with the likes of Mohammed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai for a starting role.
Villa also signed Jadon Sancho at the end of the transfer window and Emery will be hoping the English duo can link up with Watkins and Morgan Rogers to fire Aston Villa back up towards the right end of the table.

Harvey Elliott could help Ollie Watkins rediscover form
Watkins has been incredibly reliable for Villa since joining from Brentford in 2020.
The 29-year-old has scored 87 goals in 229 appearances for the club, yet has clearly failed to replicate that form this season.
With Villa sat 19th in the league, it is clear that there was a slight over-reliance on their star man, as fluidity in attack isn’t what it used to be.
Villa have lost Leon Bailey and Moussa Diaby over recent seasons, whose pace helped Villa on transitions.
Whilst Elliott may not have that, his awareness and technical ability on the ball is similar to Rodgers, who enjoyed a brilliant season alongside Watkins last campaign.
Only time will tell whether Elliott proves to be a success, but under Unai Emery, he can refine his traits whilst playing consistently.
