John McGinn sends emotional message after Aston Villa’s slow start in Premier League
John McGinn has continued to be a mainstay in Aston Villa’s midfield this season.
Unai Emery’s side has gotten off to a worrying start in the Premier League and remains the only side in England’s top four leagues yet to score.
Aston Villa were better in defence against Everton, but still didn’t click up front as the Villans managed just one shot on target in the 0-0 draw on Saturday.
McGinn, who attracted interest from Everton in the summer, remains Villa’s captain and faces an uphill battle to help his side find their feet again.

Aston Villa ‘working hard’ to put results right – John McGinn
The aftermath of the summer transfer window continues to shadow over Emery, as it was revealed that Aston Villa were ready to sell Donyell Malen.
Emi Martinez slotted straight back into Emery’s side against Everton, with plenty of changes and disruption in the side.
It has been on McGinn to continue leading the side, and he has now sent a message to alleviate any worries supporters might have.
Everton | Team | Aston Villa |
2.17 | Expected goals | 0.54 |

Following the draw with Everton, McGinn wrote on X: “A rough start to the season that we are working hard to put right.
“This can only be done by becoming stronger and together as one! Thanks for the support and see you Tuesday at Brentford.”
McGinn made history for Scotland on international duty, becoming the most capped Villa player in history.
He will be hoping to put their awful record in front of goal right when they visit Brentford on 15 September in the Carabao Cup.
Aston Villa can turn their woes around against Brentford
Aston Villa’s Carabao Cup tie with Brentford offers the ideal opportunity for the Villans to get their first win of the season.
Extra games in the calendar are rarely welcomed, but this time could help Emery discover which of his new signings are ready for the Premier League.
Aston Villa lost 1-0 to Brentford last time the two sides played in their second game of the season, but the Villans will have learnt a lot about their opposition and how to beat them.
