Brentford vs Aston Villa result predicted by supercomputer

Aston Villa have a quick turnaround as they make the trip down south to take on Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Villa’s start to the Premier League season has been pretty terrible, with Unai Emery’s side fortunate to draw 0-0 with Everton over the weekend as they remain winless after four games.

Villa have already been predicted to win the Europa League this season, but supporters would be eager to see another piece of domestic silverware added to the trophy cabinet at Villa Park.

Now, the same supercomputer that predicted Villa to win the Europa League has predicted the outcome of their game against Brentford.

Villa expected to crash out of the Carabao Cup

Morgan Rogers could be a spectator for the cup tie, with the attacking midfielder getting off to a poor start to the new season.

The Carabao Cup is an ideal opportunity for Emery to hand Harvey Elliott his first start for the club, but whether the Villans’ new signing can use this potential opportunity to stake his place in the starting XI permanently remains to be seen.

According to Opta’s supercomputer, Villa are expected to crash out of the competition, which they last won back in 1996.

Despite it not being a Premier League game, a win against Brentford could be the result Villa need to get their season up and running.

Villa have had major success in League Cup previously

As a club, Villa have a rich and successful history.

Unsurprisingly, this extends to the Carabao Cup, otherwise known as the League Cup, with the Villans winning the competition on five previous occasions.

The B6 outfit were the first ever holders of the trophy, winning the inaugural competition back in 1961 as they beat Rotherham United.

On top of their five triumphs, they have also reached the final on a further four occasions, most recently losing out to Manchester City back in 2020.

Considering the amount of good work Emery has done at Villa Park, if any deserves to win a trophy, it’s him, and the Carabao Cup could be an ideal opportunity for Villa to end their 29-year trophy drought.
