Aston Villa could sanction Morgan Rogers exit after ‘goodbye’ message

Morgan Rogers could now be on his way out of Aston Villa at the end of the season.

Rogers was linked away from Villa to Chelsea, among other teams, after a stellar first full campaign at Villa Park last time around.

This was good enough for Rogers to win the PFA Young Player of the Year award as the attacking midfielder also became a full England international.

Rogers has benefited from Unai Emery’s tutelage at Villa Park as the 23-year-old has become a true favourite of the Spaniard in the past 12 months.

With that being said, Emery could be forced to part ways with Rogers before the start of next campaign after the latest social media activity.

Morgan Rogers could be given green light to leave Aston Villa next summer

It is fair to say that the Englishman is one of the most improved players in all of the Premier League since his shock move from Middlesbrough in January 2024.

When he came in, Villa captain John McGinn didn’t rate Rogers, summing up exactly how far he has come while wearing claret and blue.

This saw him contribute to a superb 27 goals throughout last season as the B6 club narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification.

As a result, it is little surprise that there would be interest in his signature, with a sizable fee likely to be involved in any sort of exit deal.

There would also be a need for the Villans to find a direct replacement next summer, something which they could find in Lucas Paqueta.

The Brazil international was strongly linked to Villa Park in the most recent window, despite no move going through, but there is a chance that this could go through before the new campaign.

This comes after Paqueta revealed that he would play just one more year at West Ham in an out-of-the-blue message via Instagram on 11 September.

He said: “It’s about choosing those who welcomed you, who never judged you, who believed in you until the very last moment, who loved you and made you feel at home.

“It’s about staying loyal not only when you had everything, but also when there was nothing… It’s not time to say goodbye yet! Let’s go together for one more season.”

Lucas Paqueta could replace Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa

It would prove to be a bold move to swap the Englishman for the former Lyon man, but there is no doubting the latter’s qualities.

Paqueta had a difficult campaign last time around, but you don’t become a Brazil international if you haven’t got something special to offer.

Although Rogers and the Hammers star don’t compare directly, the 28-year-old could prove to be closer to what Emery wants from a number 10.

This could see the attacking midfielder move to B6 from the London Stadium and become an instant hit in the middle of the park for Villa.

His flair and creativity could prove to be perfect in behind Ollie Watkins, something which Rogers has struggled to turn into goal involvements so far this campaign.
