Victor Lindelof set to make Aston Villa debut vs Everton as injury update drops for international star
Aston Villa could be forced to hand summer signing Victor Lindelof his debut against Everton.
Lindelof signed for Villa for free on deadline day after his contract ended at Manchester United once last season finished.
This deal hasn’t gone down well in all circles away from Villa Park, with Ally McCoist left unimpressed by Villa’s signing of Lindelof.
The Sweden international has come in to act as a backup option in the squad, on such occasions as Ezri Konsa’s red card against Newcastle United.
With that being said, Lindelof could be set to make his debut in claret and blue next time out after an injury update emerged from the international stage.
Matty Cash injured on Poland duty
Having failed to win in three games this campaign, Unai Emery will be hopeful of turning that around at the newly opened Hill Dickinson Stadium.
This will see Villa travel to face Everton in the Premier League against a David Moyes side that has had a positive opening to the season by comparison.
As a result, the B6 club will have to be at their best against the Toffees if they want to finally get a first three points on the board.
It looks as if this may have to be done with Lindelof at the back, with Konsa potentially moving out to right-back on Merseyside.
This comes after Matty Cash picked up an injury on international duty with Poland before Cash was forced off at half-time against Finland.
If the 28-year-old is to miss out on the Everton clash, it would make sense to make the most out of the Swede’s arrival and shuffle the back four at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Jack Grealish could benefit from Matty Cash injury
It will certainly be interesting to see how the Villans cope without the former Nottingham Forest man, if he is to miss out.
This comes as the B6 outfit looks set to face off against Grealish down Everton’s left flank, after a stellar start to his loan spell on Merseyside.
Stat (Premier League 25/26) | Jack Grealish |
Starts | 2 |
Assists | 4 |
Successful dribbles | 6 |
Duels won | 20 |
The ex-Villa skipper will likely be keen to face off against an out-of-position Konsa and Lindelof on his debut to cause problems for his former side.
If the England international can maintain his performance level from his opening three games, Villa and the Swede could be in for a difficult afternoon against the Toffees.
