Gabby Agbonlahor has just urged Aston Villa to sign ‘under-appreciated’ Man United star

Aston Villa could soon make a move for yet another signing from Manchester United.

Villa signed Jadon Sancho on loan on deadline day to become the second loanee from Old Trafford in as many seasons at Villa Park.

The winger has followed Marcus Rashford through Villa’s doors after his loan last winter, which ultimately ended with him joining Barcelona for the current campaign.

Unai Emery has also welcomed Victor Lindelof to Villa on a free transfer, just months after he departed from the Red Devils at the end of his contract.

Now, Gabby Agbonlahor has put forward another United star who could be on the move to Villa Park in upcoming transfer windows.

Gabby Agbonlahor wants Harry Maguire at Aston Villa

It is fair to say that the Villans have had their frailties in the opening three matches of the season, which have highlighted problems in B6.

This sparked a poor atmosphere around the claret and blue club, with Agbonlahor let down by Villa fans against Crystal Palace as frustration took over.

With that being said, new deadline day signings have re-injected supporters with some fresh optimism for the rest of the Premier League campaign.

Regardless of this, it has been suggested that Maguire could prove to be a future addition for the Villans, continuing the transfer link to Manchester United.

This is the thought of Agbonlahor, who was asked via talkSPORT on 5 September whether he would take the exiled Red Devils captain at Villa in the future.

There was no question in his mind, as he said: “Yes, I like him a lot. I think he’s under-appreciated. Manchester United were savage in how they treated him.

“I think you watch him and he was their best defender.”

Harry Maguire would be a useful addition for Aston Villa

He may be 32, but the England international could prove to be a shrewd pick up for the right price in the Midlands.

There is no getting away from the level of experience he possesses and the physicality that he could add to the lineup at Villa Park, which can be lacking at times.

If it wasn’t for Tyrone Mings and Amadou Onana, there would be a worrying lack of height in the squad, something which Maguire could solve.

It certainly wouldn’t be a glamorous signing, but as an addition to boost the depth behind Ezri Konsa, it may prove to be excellent depending on the transfer fee.
