Aston Villa’s summer signings rated – 4/10 worrying, 10/10 will get fans out of seats
Aston Villa’s summer transfer window was hampered by the Premier League and UEFA’s controversial spending rules.
They were forced to sell boyhood Aston Villa fan Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle for £40million to offset spending from previous transfer windows.
However, they eventually managed to make the best of a tough summer, as they secured the signings of Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott on loan.
With that said, optimism levels are up at Villa Park as a result of deadline day, and Villa News ranks the summer business completed throughout the window.

Aston Villa seal two important deadline day deals
Sancho’s loan move from Manchester United has raised concerns, given that the winger has yet to find his form since scoring 20 and assisting 16 in the 2020/21 season for Dortmund.
If he can rediscover that fine form, there won’t be any worries, but the fact that Villa are covering £160,000 a week of his wages is a concern should he begin to struggle.
Sancho managed three goals and four assists on loan with Chelsea last season, and the Blues elected not to make his stay permanent.

However, Elliott’s loan move to Aston Villa from Liverpool appears to be an ideal signing for Emery.
The attacker has shown plenty of promise during his time on Merseyside, and with an obligation to buy of just £35million, the deal was a no-brainer.
Elliott was targeted by multiple clubs this summer, after he started just five games and was keen on a move away.
Evann Guessand’s £26million move to Aston Villa has yet to create much promise.
The Ivory Coast international struggled on his debut against Crystal Palace and was replaced by Emi Buendia at half-time.
The jury is still out on the 24-year-old, but given his fine form for Nice last season, where he netted 12 goals, the forward will be backed to settle in at Villa Park and come good.

Uncertainty over defensive reinforcements
Marco Bizot was signed from Brest as a backup goalkeeper.
The Dutchman had to step up to the plate against Crystal Palace, with Emi Martinez not picked by Emery amid transfer chaos.
Bizot was poor in Aston Villa’s 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, as he was at fault for two of the three goals conceded.
However, he has shown during his time in France that he can be a valuable asset, keeping ten clean sheets in 32 games.
Supporters will be hoping that he can rediscover that form in the absence of Martinez.

Victor Lindelof’s arrival at Aston Villa as a free agent took supporters by surprise.
The Sweden international struggled at Manchester United, but was once highly rated prior to joining the Red Devils.
His deal carries very little risk, given that he is signing as a free agent and is likely to be paid reduced wages from the £170,000 a week he was earning in Manchester.
Lindelof adds solid depth to the backline, given that Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings were regularly injured last season.
However, his arrival smacks of a PSR-forced move and on paper, it really doesn’t look very good considering how underwhelming he was at Old Trafford.
