Aston Villa line up late Maximilian Beier deal as record-shattering £60m ‘written offer’ made

Aston Villa have maintained their interest in Maximilian Beier.

Beier has been linked to Villa from Borussia Dortmund as Unai Emery looks to add late attacking reinforcements to his squad at Villa Park.

This has already seen a number of targets be assessed, with the 22-year-old and new Villa option Georges Mikautadze from Lyon being the latest stars that the Villans have been interested in.

With that being said, the B6 club are yet to complete a deal for any forward besides Evann Guessand, who Villa brought in from Nice earlier in the window.

It appears that interest in Beier isn’t wavering, but needs to be stepped up after the latest £60million update emerging out of Dortmund.

Aston Villa maintain Maximilian Beier interest

The need for new forwards in claret and blue is massive, and now Villa could sign the new Thomas Muller with Beier.

After just one season playing in front of the Yellow Wall, the German could be on his way to the Premier League before the 1 September transfer deadline.

The versatile forward has already been subject to a reported opening bid of around £30m bid from B6, with the Bundesliga giants aware of Villa’s interest.

With that being said, it looks as if Emery and Co. could be beaten to the young attacker’s signature before the end of the window after a productive debut season in Dortmund.

This comes after BILD reported on 29 August that a written offer of £55m with £5m in add-ons has been tabled by Brentford, a fee that would represent a sizable club record fee for the Bees.

It doesn’t appear that this has ended the Villans’ interest, although Dortmund are still keen on keeping hold of Beier despite a move for Fabio Silva set to go through at the Westfalenstadion.

Brentford blow Aston Villa out the water for Maximilian Beier

It is fair to say that news of a £30m bid from B6 came as a surprise to the claret and blue faithful after such a dull and dreary summer.

As a result, it feels increasingly unlikely that Monchi and Co. would ever be able to stump up more than £60m to land the German star.

This is especially the case given that Beier wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter for the Villans, especially with Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers almost guaranteed a start every week.

As a result, this Brentford bid looks set to end any chance for Villa to sign the forward, with other targets like Mikautadze now being more likely to be signed.
