Aston Villa agree personal terms to sign Georges Mikautadze, big-money bid submitted for late deal
Aston Villa have progressed in an effort to sign Georges Mikautadze from Lyon.
The Villans have had a difficult window to this point, with Evann Guessand’s move to Villa from OGC Nice being the only outfield addition under Unai Emery.
This could soon be set to change at Villa Park, with a last-gasp deal for Mikautadze seemingly in the pipeline after weeks of looking to sign a new attacking option.
The desire to bring the Georgia international to B6 has followed efforts from Villa to sign Maximilian Beier from Borussia Dortmund.
With that being said, it appears that a move for the German has been shelved by Monchi and Co. as a late attempt to sign the versatile Lyon forward has stepped up.

Aston Villa edge closer to Georges Mikautadze signing
There is no doubt about the need for attacking reinforcements at Villa right now, especially while Emery continues to snub Donyell bizarrely.
This has seen a number of forward options linked, with a Villa deal with PSG for Marco Asensio seemingly progressing well, with just days remaining in the window.
With that being said, the Spain international is certainly more of an attacking midfield option, leaving a gap in the squad for a recognised forward.
This is where Mikautadze could come in as a move away from Ligue 1 looks to be picking up speed ahead of the 1 September transfer deadline.
This comes after French journalist Marc Mechenoua reported on 29 August that discussions are ongoing with Lyon after a £21.6million offer was tabled by Villa.
Mikautadze has already agreed personal terms over a Villa Park move, something which could help a deal go through before the end of the window.
Aston Villa show ambition with Georges Mikautadze swoop
There has been no shortage of frustration surrounding the B6 club this summer, but that could be set to change before the end of the window.
This could come if both Asensio and Mikautadze were to sign, something which could help add much-needed attacking depth to the squad in the Midlands.
The 24-year-old netted 17 goals for Lyon last season and as a result, could represent strong competition of Ollie Watkins in the squad moving forward.
Stat | Georges Mikautadze |
Appearances | 47 |
Goals | 17 |
Assists | 9 |
It will now be interesting to see if the claret and blue outfit can force a deal over the line before the deadline, in what could be a hugely important move for the Villans’ season prospects.
