‘Crazy’ Jadon Sancho situation to play into Aston Villa’s hands as Manchester United deal lined up

Aston Villa could be in line to make a swoop to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United.

Sancho, 25, has been linked with Villa various times this summer as Unai Emery looks to add some much-needed attacking depth to his squad in B6.

There have been mixed reviews of this potential deal, with Stan Collymore being dead against a move for Sancho, while others believe a loan switch could benefit all parties.

This comes after Marcus Rashford performed well for Villa after also making the temporary move from Old Trafford to Villa Park in the winter.

With that being said, a new approach for Sancho could be in the pipeline as Manchester United become desperate to part ways with the England international.

Aston Villa could benefit from Jadon Sancho uncertainty

There is no doubt that the Villans are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements after a blunt opening to the Premier League campaign.

Even with Aston Villa’s signing of Evann Guessand from OGC Nice, there is a general lack of depth in the squad right now, especially in wide areas.

Players who have played out wide for Aston Villa:

The addition of an out-and-out winger like Sancho, although risky, could prove to be exactly what is needed in the final week of the window.

Villa have been handed hope of landing a deal for the ex-Dortmund man after he turned down a loan move to Roma at the last minute.

Former Brentford and Leicester City boss Allen believes this could leave the door open for Villa to take advantage of Manchester United and land the 25-year-old on loan.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Allen said: “What a position Manchester United have gotten themselves into with Sancho.

I believe he went out to Roma, a deal was agreed, and everything looked to be sorted.

Manchester United thought they’d get part of his £250,000-a-week wage off the books, some of that would have been paid by Roma.

That would have gotten him away from the club, the training ground, and he’s turned it down. A manager’s nightmare.

Jadon Sancho performed well at Chelsea on loan last season

He could still stay at Man United, even if he won’t play, it’s a crazy situation with how much money is involved.

He did make an impact at Chelsea last year, so there is a player in there. Could Villa take him on?

They would want to pay much less than that £250k, while also paying a very low loan fee.

Man United won’t want him around their training ground at all, so that could play into Villa’s hands.

Jadon Sancho could replicate Chelsea form at Villa Park

The general discourse surrounding the Englishman is negative, but that shouldn’t truly be the case from a footballing perspective.

Although it seems strange that he has turned down several moves away from Old Trafford, that shouldn’t distract from a generally positive campaign at Chelsea.

This saw the wide man feature regularly as Enzo Maresca’s side won the UEFA Conference League, while also qualifying for the Champions League.

Having contributed to 13 goals, there is clearly quality there that Emery could help improve if he could land Sancho before the 1 September deadline.
