Aston Villa ‘not messing around’ as Jaydee Canvot update emerges after offer made
Aston Villa are making strides in an effort to boost their midfield before the transfer window closes.
Villa began the Premier League season with a 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle. Although the effort was there, they looked a little short of creativity at times.
Having sold Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle, the squad is perhaps looking a little short of midfielders for Unai Emery’s liking.

Villa to raise their bid after Toulouse reject offer for Canvot
Villa have been linked with a move for Toulouse midfielder Jaydee Canvot for most of the summer.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season for the French club, delivering some assured performances in the centre of the park.
It had been suggested that Villa may launch a £10m bid for Canvot, but reports suggested they have now had a bid rejected by Toulouse.
Fabrice Hawkins, a journalist in France, insists a second bid is likely to follow after Villa’s initial offer was rejected, with a fee in the region of £17.3m being required.
Villa now simply need to go straight back in with that improved bid in order to show they’re not messing around.
More signings needed if Villa are to compete on multiple fronts
It hasn’t been the most inspirational transfer window for Aston Villa fans so far.
The capture of Evann Guessand looks promising, but there have been no other signings to really get the heart racing at Villa Park.
Canvot is a tidy young player, but he doesn’t fall into the category of season-altering signings either. Not for this season, anyway. He’s more likely to be one for the future.

If Villa are to sustain a serious challenge to qualify for next year’s Champions League, they will need to bolster their attack.
They were reliant on loan signings Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio last season, and they’ve not properly replaced them yet.
The rumours that Asensio could return are exciting. If Emery can tempt him back to Villa Park alongside one more proven goalscorer, there will be more reason for Villa fans to be optimistic.
