‘Amine Adli won’t be 100% until February’ as Aston Villa and Bournemouth chase deal

Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing Amine Adli before the transfer window closes.

Adli is currently playing for Bayer Leverkusen, after moving to Germany in the summer of 2021.

Last season, the Morocco international’s output in the Bundesliga was underwhelming, with him scoring just two goals and providing one assist in 20 games.

This story includes exclusive opinion from injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist.

Aston Villa expected to assess Adli’s fibular fracture

With Marcus Rashford and Marcus Asensio leaving post the end of their loan spell, Villa are two wide attackers shy, explaining the interest in Adli.

Caught Offside reported on 1 August that it will take £26million to prise him away from Leverkusen this summer while Bournemouth are also interested in his signature.

However, before signing him, Dr Rajpal Brar expects the Villa Park outfit to assess his fibular fracture from last season.

The 25-year-old missed 21 games because of it, but after he returned, he did play regularly.

Dr Brar told Villa News: “Villa may take a closer look at his recent fibular fracture to assess the full extent of healing, but I wouldn’t expect anything significant, as he was able to return without issue for the final months of the season.

“However, his lengthy absence last season was concerning, but I expect him back at 100 per cent after playing regularly from February.

“He will also have built up his fitness in pre season.”

Adli can bring a different dimension to the Aston Villa attack

Adli could significantly enhance Aston Villa’s attacking options with his versatility, flair and dynamism.

Capable of playing as a winger, attacking midfielder or second striker, the Moroccan’s directness and excellent dribbling skills allow him to unlock tight defences.

His 10-goal contributions in Leverkusen’s 2023/24 Bundesliga-winning season showcase his ability to deliver in high-stakes environments.

Adli’s pace, positional awareness and pressing energy align perfectly with Unai Emery’s high-tempo system, offering flexibility in attack.

Given his affordable valuation, his addition would bolster Villa’s squad depth for domestic and European challenges.
