Aston Villa have now responded to Everton interest in John McGinn as bid tabled

Everton have continued to showcase an interest in Aston Villa captain John McGinn.

The Scotland international has just two years remaining on his current deal at Villa Park, resulting in links with an exit this summer.

To this point, the skipper has remained in the Midlands, featuring with the armband as the Villans secured a 4-0 win against Roma on Wednesday (6 August).

With that being said, David Moyes’ side haven’t given up their efforts to land McGinn as the Toffees have now made their interest physical.

Everton make McGinn offer at Aston Villa

The Merseyside outfit had shown a prior interest in the ex-Hibernian man earlier in the window but seemingly never made a bid.

This was followed by Newcastle United also keeping an eye on McGinn, who has been named on Eddie Howe’s shortlist at St James’ Park.

Whether this has once again sparked the Blues into life or not, the Evertonians have now tabled a bid to Unai Emery’s side for the Scot.

This comes after Sky Sports News reported (7 August) that an £18million offer came in from Everton for McGinn ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The outlet have revealed that the Villans rejected this approach from the Toffees, suggesting that the captain isn’t for sale this summer.

Everton maintain McGinn interest

It appears as if Emery is stern in his stance that his skipper isn’t going anywhere with just over a week until opening day against Newcastle.

This can only be seen as a boost for the Villans who will be keen to hold onto their best players after a largely lacklustre transfer window to this point.

It is fair to say that the sale of someone as well-liked and important as McGinn would go down badly among the Villa faithful if it were to go through.

The Scot has been one of the most important stars in claret and blue ever since signing and his sale would represent a huge risk and a blow to the squad.

As a result, it is little surprise that Everton have been told where to go with their offer.
