How much Evann Guessand could cost Aston Villa as agreement is reached

Aston Villa look to finally be making moves in the transfer market after a timid window thus far.

Unai Emery has made few major signings so far this summer, despite the Birmingham outfit’s qualification for the Europa League.

While Villa are trying to keep hold of stars such as Morgan Rogers, it has been heavily disappointing so far.

Now, the Birmingham outfit have finally woken up, with Villa reportedly reaching an agreement for Evann Guessand.

However, the Nice forward could end up costing Emery a pretty penny.

Guessand could cost Aston Villa at least £46.1m

Guessand has impressed in Ligue 1 for Nice, and picked up 23 goal contributions last season.

As a result, Santi Aouna (5 August) has reported that an agreement has been reached for £30.5 million between Villa and the French side.

However, the striker is likely to cost a lot more on top of this.

According to Capology (5 August), Guessand is currently on £15,080-a-week at Nice.

This sees the 24-year-old pick up £784,139 per annum, with three years still left on his contract.

Aston Villa attackers Wages per week
Donyell Malen£140,000
Ollie Watkins £130,000
Leon Bailey £120,000
Emiliano Buendia£75,000
Morgan Rogers £75,000
Jacob Ramsey£70,000
Aston Villa pay plenty to their attacking options

As a result, it is expected that Guessand would receive a big wage boost if the move is completed.

With many of Aston Villa’s first-team players on £100,000-a-week plus, if the 24-year-old is offered this on a three-year deal, it would cost the Birmingham outfit £15.6m.

This is without including bonuses and clauses that could be triggered throughout his stay at Villa Park.

Is Guessand Ollie Watkins’ replacement?

The problem with this transfer is that speculation regarding Ollie Watkins’ future at Villa will only increase.

Manchester United are heavily linked with Watkins, with Newcastle also eyeing a move.

With Guessand occupying the striker spot, and the Villa star unwilling to sit on the bench, a departure this summer seems inevitable if the move is completed.

Hopefully, Emery has a plan in place to get both Guessand and Watkins into his starting XI.
