Aston Villa create increased fan divide as controversial ticket policy confirmed
Aston Villa fans are among the best in the entirety of English football.
There aren’t many out there better than the Claret and Blue faithful, with Villa Park constantly sold out.
That has certainly played a key role in the successes of the Villans in recent years under Unai Emery, support which has only been replicated on the road.
Although form hasn’t been as consistent away from B6, fans have continued to show up in their numbers as tickets represent gold dust among the fan base.
Battles to land a seat at different stadiums have become a regular occurrence, with the latest decision in the Midlands only adding fuel to the fire of these dogfights.

Away ticket details confirmed by Aston Villa
It is one of the best feelings for supporters to watch their teams away from home pick up a huge win.
There is a different air around clashes on a trip from Villa Park, but since promotion to the Premier League, they have become increasingly rare for many.
With that in mind, many were hoping for a change to the policies in B6 to potentially open away days up to a wider audience of loyal supporters.
This, for now, won’t be the case as Villa revealed on Monday (4 August) that the requirements will remain the same as they were last season before being reviewed at the halfway point.
Date | Fixture | STH with 1200+ away points | STH with 1150+ away points | STH with 1100+ away points | Season ticket holders |
23/08/2025 | Brentford | 28 July | 29 July | 30 July | 31 July |
13/09/2025 | Everton | 18 August | 19 August | 20 August | 21 August |
21/09/2025 | Sunderland | 26 August | 27 August | 28 August | 29 August |
18/10/2025 | Tottenham | 22 September | 23 September | 24 September | 25 September |
1/11/2025 | Liverpool | 6 October | 7 October | 8 October | 9 October |
22/11/2025 | Leeds United | 27 October | 28 October | 29 October | 30 October |
3/12/2025 | Brighton | 10 November | 11 November | 12 November | 13 November |
13/12/2025 | West Ham | 17 November | 18 November | 19 November | 20 November |
27/12/2025 | Chelsea | 1 December | 2 December | 3 December | 4 December |
30/12/2025 | Arsenal | 8 December | 9 December | 10 December | 11 December |
This will likely see the vast majority, if not all, of tickets be sold in the initial window, leaving many supporters without the chance to see their side on their travels.
It is fair to say that this has left the fanbase heavily divided, with regular away-day matchgoers benefiting from the lack of change as their reign looks set to continue.
On the flipside, those who were hoping to build up their references and become regulars on the coaches have been left disappointed by the lack of change.
It is a two-sided coin with a certain section of supporters bound to be fuming, whatever happens.
Closed shop continues on Aston Villa away days
Unfortunately, for the same old faces, as they’ve been called by many on social media, it doesn’t feel entirely fair that they get to just continue their residency in the away ends of the Premier League.
The argument that other supporters could build up their own references when tickets come up isn’t valid, as it has become a virtual impossibility to get a ticket for any Premier League match outside of Villa Park.
There is certainly a need for a change to help allow some new fans, almost all of whom have also backed the Villans through dark days, to have the same experience as others have been afforded.
It has become a closed shop on the road in claret and blue, and will be for another four months at least until a potential change comes in at the midway point of the season.
