Alex Moreno’s agent ‘works on Aston Villa exit’ to join Premier League club

Alex Moreno has been linked with a move away from Aston Villa since the start of the summer.

The Spanish left-back has been little more than a bit-part player under Unai Emery, and he spent the majority of last season on loan with Nottingham Forest.

Moreno has been touted for a permanent Villa departure for several weeks now, and there had previously been suggestions that he could have been part of a swap deal to get Real Betis’ Jesus Rodriguez.

That link has been dead and buried for some time, but talk of the 32-year-old leaving the Villans has only continued to heat up further.

Moreno could get another Premier League move as Villa open to sale or loan

Spanish side Girona have become the latest side to approach Villa for Moreno, and Unai Emery and Co. now appear to be open to getting him off the books in any way possible.

Both permanent and loan deals are understood to be being considered by the Villans, who recently jetted off to the USA without the defender.

That decision to leave Moreno behind on the pre-season trip effectively seals his future at the club, but he may still be seen at Villa Park this season if his agent gets his way.

Ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes that the full-back’s agent will be pushing to try and find him another Premier League move, despite the interest from La Liga.

“I would think his agent will be looking for another Premier League club if possible, because as we all know, that’s where the money is,” King said.

“Personally, for Moreno, a move back to his own country will always be beneficial for him and his family.

“At the end of the day, it’s what he wants, as well as what kind of figure Aston Villa want to sell him for.

“You certainly wouldn’t pay too much for him, given that he’s 32.”

Aston Villa need to get Moreno out however they can

With a new Villa deal potentially imminent for Lucas Digne, there is surely no way back for Moreno in B6.

He may have had hope of returning from his loan spell in Nottingham to find an opportunity present itself, but with him clearly still behind both Digne and Ian Maatsen in the pecking order, it is now time for him to move on.

The Villans won’t want to spend another season paying his wages, especially when the chances of him seeing any football are incredibly low.

With that in mind, they should be looking to take any opportunity they can get to offload him, even if that means settling on a particularly low sum.
