Fans in unison as Aston Villa share Leon Bailey post

Leon Bailey has had a frustrating spell at Aston Villa.

Bailey, 27, moved to Villa Park in the summer of 2021 from Bayer Leverkusen for £30million, coming with a lot of hype from Germany.

However, the Jamaican has failed to live up to his potential since moving to England, registering just 33 goal involvements in 110 Premier League games.

Monday (4 August) marks four years to the day since the winger arrived at Villa, and fans have had their say.

Villa fans call Bailey a one season wonder

The Villans posted a video of Bailey’s goal against Club Brugge in the Champions League on their X account (4 August).

The post is captioned: “Leon Bailey became an Aston Villa player four years ago today.”

That goal against Brugge was one of the Jamaican’s two goals for Villa last season, and Villa fans have called him a one season wonder, referring to his 2023/24 season.

One fan replied: “Meh, one good season. Hopefully he can get his form back but I said that last year.”

Another replied: “Good player when he turns up, 1 good season out of 4, needs to step up and be more consistent.”

A third fan said: “4 years and only had one decent season…not good enough.”

Bailey’s time at Villa is surely up

Bailey’s time in England will surely label him as a Villa flop, given the hype surrounding him, and Villa need to upgrade.

Luckily for Unai Emery, the winger is likely to command much of his original fee back due to his age, which will help finance a replacement.

With links of a move to Saudi Arabian side Neom SC and Fenerbahce cropping up, parting way would be the best solution for both parties.
