Aston Villa making mistake as Yasin Ozcan exit confirmed

Aston Villa’s summer seems to have gone from bad to worse now that Yasin Ozcan is set to leave the club on loan.

Unai Emery cannot be happy with how Villa’s window has gone thus far. After a disappointing end to the season, it was believed there would be a sense of urgency in the market.

However, Villa have seen more departures than new arrivals, and that does not seem to be changing anytime soon. Now, Ozcan seems to be the latest in the long line of transfers that the Villans have gotten wrong this summer.

Villa allow Ozcan to join R.S.C. Anderlecht on loan

Ozcan is one of the few players to have arrived at Villa this summer after the club struck a pre-agreement worth £5.8million with Kasimpasa in January.

While the centre-back is considered a promising talent, it now seems that Villa are content to let him develop elsewhere.

Villa confirmed on Saturday (2 August) that Ozcan has joined R.S.C. Anderlecht on a season-long loan. He joins a lengthy list of players who have been sent on loan, including Louie Barry, Kosta Nedelijkovic and Enzo Barrenechea, who have already departed.

Villa are making a mistake with Ozcan’s loan move

The Villans could grow to regret their decision now that Ozcan will be loaned to Anderlecht for the season.

There is nothing wrong with loaning him out per se, he is young, inexperienced and is unlikely to see many minutes under Emery. However, a loan move to a Belgian side could be an issue in the long run.

Up until this point, Ozcan has never played in England, which is one of the most difficult countries to perform in throughout Europe. As a result, a loan move makes sense, but one to a Championship club would have been perfection.

The move would have granted him a taste of English football, which could have seen him adapt quicker to the pace of the Premier League when the time comes. This is not to say that he cannot be loaned out to a Championship team upon his return.

However, football moves quickly, and there is every chance that he would have been ready to assimilate into the first team next season had he remained in England. Therefore, the Villans may have shot themselves in the foot with this one.
