Aston Villa find Marco Asensio replacement, he’s like Anthony Gordon
Aston Villa are yet to bring in any significant reinforcements this summer, but are now eyeing up a potential masterstroke of a signing.
Unai Emery will hope to upgrade parts of his squad ahead of a season in which his side will have to balance domestic and Europa League football.
Aston Villa need to replace Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio as they kept neither loanee, and a versatile wide attacker could be the ideal solution.
While Villa are no longer struggling in terms of their financial position, they are unlikely to be able to afford a big name such as Alejandro Garnacho, but they may have another target in mind.

Villa interested in Amine Adli transfer
Bayer Leverkusen have sold key players Florian Wirtz and Granit Xhaka to the Premier League this summer, and another could now follow.
Winger Amine Adli has attracted interest from several clubs, and Emery is now reportedly keen on the 25-year-old.
- Adli could follow Xhaka, Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Xabi Alonso out of Leverkusen this summer.
CaughtOffside (August 2) have now reported that Villa, as well as West Ham, Crystal Palace and Fulham among others, are interested in Adli, who could be available for around £26 million.
Stat | Amine Adli |
Appearances | 142 |
Goals | 23 |
Assists | 24 |
Adli was hit by injuries last season, restricting him to 20 Bundesliga appearances, but his profile is of interest to Emery, as someone who could replace the qualities of both Rashford and Asensio.

Adli targeted as versatile and speedy profile
Adli carries a similar profile to Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, as per FBref, given his ball-carrying abilities as well as his speed.
Although a winger, Adli can also play in midfield and upfront, and would offer Villa incredible versatility.
Asensio impressed on loan last season, but the Paris Saint-Germain outcast will not return, and Villa could target Adli to replace him on the right wing, while adding the speed that Rashford provided on the other side.
Adli is a strong creator and goalscorer, who also puts in a shift defensively, ranking high among his peers for tackles, and given his potentially low fee and wages, could be a shrewd addition for Villa.
However, Emery will be wary of his injury record, which has perhaps kept his price low, but this could be a gamble worth taking to give Villa more ideas in the attacking third.
