Aston Villa and Man United’s bonus package and add-ons for Garnacho transfer speculated
Aston Villa have been pushing to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United since the start of the summer.
The Argentine has fallen badly out of favour with Ruben Amorim, and the Portuguese boss is now seemingly doing everything he can to facilitate an exit for the winger.
Garnacho has been heavily linked with a move to Villa Park, but it is understood that he would likely need to take a significant wage cut in order to make it happen.
Unai Emery’s side have progressed drastically in recent seasons, but they are still not capable of matching the financial capabilities of a super club like United.

This article includes exclusive comment from former Aston Villa scout Bryan King.
Aston Villa to pay initial £50m for Garnacho as Watkins talks held
Keeping hold of Ollie Watkins has been one of the major priorities for Villa this summer, and United may have just created an awkward problem for the B6 outfit.
The Old Trafford side are trying to find creative ways of achieving their goals in the transfer market, and they are understood to have held talks with the Villans over a potential swap deal involving Watkins and Garnacho.
That would potentially leave Emery and Co. with a difficult choice between their current star and a fresh face, unless they can convince United to do a deal in any other way.
- United had been demanding up to £70m for Garnacho earlier in the summer
- Garnacho’s valuation has since been lowered as Amorim has left him out of the pre-season tour
- The Red Devils want to explore the possibility of a swap deal involving Watkins
Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes that they may be able to persuade the Red Devils into a straight sale with an initial bid of £50million, plus the incentive of add-ons.
“Garnacho is a quality player,” King said.
“But there’s no doubt about the fact that he’s the kind of player that needs an arm around his shoulder and praising him and telling him how good he is, then you seem to get results from him.
“He isn’t going to get that at Manchester United by the sound of it.
“I’d pay £50m plus add-ons if he performs, and I would imagine there would be a sell-on clause as well because he’s still young enough to generate interest from the likes of Spain, Italy and Germany.
“Whether he could generate big money for his next move after that needs to be proven out on the pitch.”

Garnacho’s consistency will be a concern for Villa
Garnacho is seemingly keen on a move to Villa, having cheekily donned a claret and blue shirt for an Instagram post earlier in the summer.
However, given the context of the Villans’ summer and their tight restrictions when it comes to spending, they must think carefully about whether the 21-year-old represents the best way to get value for their cash.
| Season (stats in all comps) | Apps | Goals | Assists |
| 2024/25 | 58 | 11 | 10 |
| 2023/24 | 50 | 10 | 5 |
| 2022/23 | 34 | 5 | 4 |
He has become an increasingly important player in Manchester over the last few seasons, but there are still concerns surrounding his consistency.
The wideman notched just eight goal contributions in the Premier League last term, and that isn’t really a number befitting of a £50m attacker.
He undoubtedly has plenty of potential to improve, which offsets a hefty price tag to some extent, but Villa must still be mindful of the risks involved in a potential deal.
