St. Louis City v Aston Villa: Weather forecast latest as thunderstorm expected

Aston Villa’s pre-season preparations have not gone to plan so far.

Villa are yet to win so far, losing to both Walsall and Hansa Rostock before drawing 2-2 with Eintracht Frankfurt in their opening game in the United States.

Unai Emery is also having difficulty in the transfer market, having lost Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford after their loan spells, with Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez also linked with the exit door.

Emery will be looking at their game against St. Louis City on Thursday as an opportunity to boost confidence in his side ahead of a third consecutive European campaign.

Villa game set to go ahead despite flash floods over the weekend

The United States have been in the headlines over the organisation of the Club World Cup.

In particular, the disruption of games due to weather conditions caused chaos across the tournament, notably with Chelsea’s game with Benfica lasting over four hours.

Villa‘s friendly with St. Louis has come under threat after flash floods hit the city of St. Louis and Lincoln County over the weekend.

AccuWeather has predicted that the weather will remain chaotic on Wednesday local time, with extreme heat expected during the day.

In the evening, a heavy thunderstorm is predicted, followed by spot storms, which could cause flash floods and damaging winds.

As of now (28 July), the game will go ahead as planned on Thursday (31 July) at 1:30 am UK time.

Villa are yet to win in pre-season

Villa have been brilliant over the last three seasons, but they need to make sure they don’t become complacent from regular European finishes and drop back into mid-table.
