Aston Villa to make announcement in hours after Kamara contract development

Boubacar Kamara’s future has been in question in recent months, but there has now been a major breakthrough.

Aston Villa were keen on tying Kamara down to a new deal amid links with Saudi Arabia, and it was unclear whether they would be able to keep the midfielder.

The 25-year-old has established himself as an important player for Villa, and Unai Emery was particularly eager to keep him at the club.

There has now been a major update regarding Kamara’s future at Villa Park, with a club announcement likely to come in the next few hours.

Villa agree new Kamara contract

Villa fans will now be relieved, as Kamara has agreed a new deal to keep him at the club after months of negotiations with his camp.

Kamara had just two years remaining on his deal, and Villa’s uncertain PSR situation before June could have led to his exit.

However, Jacob Tanswell has now reported (24 July) that Kamara has signed a new contract at Villa Park, despite the lack of UEFA Champions League football, which was considered to be a key factor in his future when last season ended.

A contract offer was first made to the midfielder in April, but it has now finally been signed, in a massive relief for Villa and Emery.

Kamara needs to stay fit next season

Kamara is arguably Villa’s most important player, but he has struggled with a few injuries over the years, and staying fit will be paramount to the team’s hopes next season.

The France international has been consistently excellent at the base of midfield, and alongside Youri Tielemans and John McGinn, has formed a trio which can compete at the highest level.

With Villa aiming to get back into the Champions League, they will need Kamara to be available as much as possible, as they are a different team without him orchestrating the midfield.

Kamara has made 97 appearances for Aston Villa since joining from Marseille three years ago, with a long-term injury preventing him from playing further.
