Aston Villa news round-up: Garnacho keen to work with Emery as transfer hours away

Aston Villa are looking to strengthen in the window ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Unai Emery has not welcomed any marquee signings through the door at Villa Park up to this point in the transfer window.

Both Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio look to be signing for new clubs despite enjoying successful loan spells in B6.

In their place, Monchi may turn his attention to Alejandro Garnacho, who is heavily linked with a move.

Garnacho keen to work under Emery

With his Manchester United career seemingly over, Garnacho is said to welcome the idea of working under Emery at Aston Villa.

While the Argentinian is undoubtedly a talented player, it is up to Emery to see if he would be able to unlock the youngster’s full potential amid his apparent attitude issues in the past.

After being heavily linked with a move to B6 at the start of the window, those rumours began to cool, but Villa are reportedly still interested in the player, and Emery’s squad is in desperate need of new wingers.

Garnacho is also in desperate need of a new club himself, meaning this transfer could be a match made in heaven.

Monchi to sanction move to help Louie Barry thrive

Louie Barry is one of the most high-profile talented youngsters currently on the books at Villa Park.

While a place in Emery’s side looks unlikely again for the 22-year-old, his latest loan move could be another masterstroke by Monchi in continuing to help the development of Barry.

After initially being set to rejoin Hull City, that move collapsed. Instead, Barry now looks set to take his talents to South Yorkshire with Sheffield United, with a transfer expected to be completed in the next 48 hours.

With the Blades likely competing at the top of the Championship again next season, it could be the perfect final loan move for Barry before he develops enough to feature regularly for Villa.

Villa involved in another ticket pricing scandal

A roaring Villa Park will be an essential tool for Emery’s side as they look to get back into the UEFA Champions League next season.

However, with the club releasing the price of their tickets for their opening day fixture against Newcastle, supporters in B6 will be left furious.

Adult tickets start at £58 and rise all the way up to £92.

For under-14s, prices start at £16.50, but again rise to a shockingly high £92. Villa had already confirmed earlier this summer that adult season ticket prices would rise by five per cent.

If key players like Ollie Watkins and Emi Martinez were to leave in addition to these price hikes, then next season could quickly become one to forget for Villa fans.
