Kevin Lomonaco ‘to clear Aston Villa medical’ amid new transfer update
Aston Villa, West Ham and Barcelona have been linked with a move to sign Red Bull Bragatino defender Kevin Lomonaco.
Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the Argentine’s game time and fitness record ahead of a potential move to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old has been a regular in the top tier of Argentine football as he was out on loan at Independiente.

Lomonaco not expected to face issues with his medical
The centre-back is not expected to face any issues clearing his medical ahead of a potential transfer, according to Dr Brar.
Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Lomonaco, but there are other clubs keen on securing his services as well. [La Nuevea Espana, 2 July, page 43]
| Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Independiente | 47 | 2 | 1 |
| RB Bragantino | 20 | 0 | 0 |
| Platense | 11 | 1 | 1 |
| Lanús | 8 | 0 | 0 |
| Tigre | 6 | 0 | 0 |
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “He’s got a stellar fitness record and I do not expect him to face issues with his medical.
“However, with a move from South America to the Premier League, it will be a big shift for him, not just in terms of the football but also the climate and changes in his personal life.
“It would not make sense to expect him to be 100 per cent right off the bat.”

Aston Villa may look to amplify their interest in Lomonaco
Lomonaco’s pursuit likely stems from the Villa Park outfit’s need to bolster their defence for the 2025/26 Premier League and Europa League campaigns.
With Axel Disasi’s loan from Chelsea ending and uncertainties around Emiliano Martinez’s future, Unai Emery seeks a young, versatile defender to compete with Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres and shore up the back line.
Lomonaco’s 47 appearances for Independiente, coupled with his recent Argentina call-up, highlight his potential.
The late entry of Aston Villa into the transfer race, alongside Bournemouth and West Ham, reflects Monchi’s strategy to secure cost-effective talent.
