‘Emery fumes’ as Aston Villa player passes Man City medical, signs long-term deal
Unai Emery will be less than impressed as Manchester City bring in an Aston Villa gem.
As of right now, Aston Villa have only signed Marco Bizot.
Transfer business has been slow in the West Midlands, likely to the frustration of Emery. Therefore, the Spaniard is only likely to become more anrgy after a fresh update.

Freddie Lawrie passes Manchester City medical
Freddie Lawrie was considered one of the most talented players in Villa’s academy and had caught the eye of several suitors this summer.
This included Pep Guardiola’s side, who have placed a keen focus on first-team recruitment as of late. It was suggested that the Villans were content to keep the youngster, but such plans have now gone out the window.
Player | Age | Position | Current International |
Freddie Lawrie | 16-years-old | Centre Back/Midfield | England Under-17 |
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on Thursday (17 July), Lawrie has successfully passed his medical with Manchester City.
The England Under-17 captain joins the club on a long-term deal as part of a busy window for the Manchester City academy.
There is no doubt that Emery will fume at losing such a talent. The youngster has already shown his potential after climbing the ranks to captain the England Under-17s.
While most commonly deployed in the midfield, he has also had shifts at centre-back for his national team. This level of versatility is unique to come by, and the Villa manager will be disappointed that Lawrie has slipped from his grasp.
Villa need to make more moves in the market
Aston Villa have had one of the more lacklustre summer windows compared to other Premier League clubs.
Manchester City have added Rayan Cherki to their ranks, while Liverpool have snatched Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and are on track to secure Newcastle target Hugo Ekitike.
Even Tottenham have signed Mohammed Kudus as their marquee signing.
After a disappointing end to their Premier League season, Villa will need to add to their squad if they want to make it back into the UEFA Champions League next season.
