Aston Villa to ‘trigger immediate Chelsea bid’ for Morgan Rogers transfer
Morgan Rogers will be the transfer story of the summer at Aston Villa, with Chelsea the latest club to be mentioned.
Rogers is not the only player in Unai Emery’s side to be linked with a move to the blue portion of London, however, with Emi Martinez also tipped to switch Birmingham for the capital.
With Villa narrowly missing out on the Champions League again, Emery’s side requires a big summer window to strengthen their squad.
This is seemingly not the case so far with Ollie Watkins, being continually linked with a move away from Villa, whilst Marcus Rashford’s stay in B6 was short-lived.

Chelsea to launch Rogers bid amid Villa interest in Jackson
Nicolas Jackson is someone who the Villans are interested in, particularly if Watkins were to leave.
Emery and Jackson have previously worked together at Villarreal, and a reunion at Villa Park could be on the cards.
If Villa were to launch a bid for Jackson, who is said to be valued at £60.5million by Chelsea, then this could potentially start an unwanted chain reaction.
Speaking on the London Is Blue Podcast (16 July), Matt Law claimed that if Villa were to bid for Jackson, then Chelsea would respond with an offer of their own for Rogers.
“I’m told by people on the outside that if Villa do go for Nicholas Jackson, it will immediately trigger a bid for Morgan Rogers from Chelsea.”
The Telegraph journalist continued: “The only way I see Villa going for Nicolas Jackson potentially is if Ollie Watkins goes, because with us not in the Champions League next season, I don’t see a scenario where we carry Nicolas Jackson along with Ollie Watkins.
Villa must not bid for Jackson if it jeopardises Rogers’ future
Jackson is arguably a player Emery should be steering clear of, regardless, if he wants to guide Villa back into the Champions League.
The news about the bid for Jackson potentially provoking an offer from Chelsea for Rogers should be just one on a long list of warnings of why Villa must avoid signing the 24-year-old.
Rogers is someone who Emery will be looking to build his side around going into the next campaign, with the youngster arguably being their most valuable player after an outstanding season.
If Villa are ready to move on from Watkins, then they must bring a proven goalscorer in to replace the England international or face sliding down the Premier League table further.
Ollie Watkins – Season | Goals (Premier League) |
24/25 | 16 |
23/24 | 19 |
22/23 | 15 |
21/22 | 11 |
20/21 | 14 |
Jackson has proved with his poor finishing and disciplinary issues that he is not the ideal candidate to lead the line and fire Villa back into the Champions League.
After winning the Club World Cup, though, Chelsea clearly have more money to play with.
