Aston Villa ‘ready to pay £10m for Canvot’ amid personal terms update – Exclusive
Aston Villa have earmarked Jaydee Canvot as a young talent that they want to sign this summer.
Canvot enjoyed a breakthrough season for Toulouse last time out, making 18 appearances in Ligue 1 in the 2024/25 campaign.
Villa have emerged as the likely suitors for Canvot, who could become their next star of the future.
The 18-year-old primarily plays as a holding midfielder, but can also play at centre back, which will surely make him an extremely attractive prospect for Unai Emery.

Villa to pay £10million for Canvot, personal terms won’t be an issue
It has been mooted that Villa will need to pay £17million to secure Canvot’s services, with an initial bid from the B6 outfit thought to be on the cards in the coming days.
It seems as though a deal could be concluded fairly swiftly, with the player himself understood to be keen on a move to the Premier League.
As a result, the agreement of personal terms is expected to be straightforward for the Villans, according to Sacha Tavolieri via X (14 July).
The suggestion of a potential £17m transfer fee could make it a fairly expensive deal for Emery’s side in the context of their summer.
However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes that the West Midlands outfit won’t be willing to pay that much, and will instead be targeting a smaller sum.
“I’d imagine he (Canvot) will cost around £10m,” King said.
“That’s the most Villa will pay, I’d presume. He’s a defender coming from France, where he wouldn’t have been tested too much.
“The Premier League is a different level. He isn’t going to be playing in the first team for the first 18 months, I wouldn’t think. Therefore, even £10m is a lot of money.
Villa need proven quality this summer
Villa will still be reeling after missing out on the UEFA Champions League on the final day of the season, and they will be desperate to strengthen their hand to get back into the top four this term.
However, with a fairly limited spending capacity ahead of the upcoming campaign, the second city outfit will need to be extremely particular with the players they buy.
Monchi and Co. have an admirable desire to invest in up-and-coming players, but if they are to improve next season, they need an immediate impact at first-team level.
Canvot may be an exciting prospect, but he’s unlikely to provide that impact straight away, so it would not be wise for Villa to spend a substantial fee on him.
