Aston Villa set for transfer lift-off as Canvot deal bombshell drops
Aston Villa finally look set to make some progress in the transfer window.
Unai Emery’s side have so far failed to make an impression this summer after struggling to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.
The Villans missed out on Sverre Nypan and Jesus Rodriguez earlier in the window due to being unable to compete with their European rivals.
Now that they are in the clear, Aston Villa can progress with their transfer plans but must still be careful not to breach financial rules again.

Aston Villa ready Jaydee Canvot bid
Unless they sell, Villa won’t be looking to make any big money signings before the start of the season.
Emery will instead look to recruit young and talented players who are going under the radar.
Now, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri on X (14 July), Villa have found their man in Jaydee Canvot.
The Villans are convinced by his potential and are ready to finalize a deal with French side Toulouse as soon as they get the chance to submit an offer.
Canvot’s Toulouse stats | |
Games | 20 |
Minutes played | 1,182 |
Pass completion per 90 | 86.2% |
Tackles per 90 | 1.87 |
Canvot is reportedly keen on the move and personal terms aren’t expected to be an issue.
The 18-year-old primarily plays as a defensive midfielder but can also cover at centre-back.
In his breakthrough season, Canvot made 18 Ligue 1 appearances and has become a regular for France Under-20’s side.
Canvot signing will be a good start to the transfer window for Emery
Despite a slow start to the transfer window, Canvot will be a brilliant signing for Emery’s side.
His signing could kickstart Villa’s summer, with Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho reportedly on their wishlist.
While Canvot isn’t expected to be thrust straight into the Villans’ starting eleven, with Emery’s history of developing young talent such as Morgan Rogers, he could be playing in claret and blue quicker than people think.
Either way, the youngster will offer good cover at Villa Park and could pave the way for further incomings in the coming weeks.
