Rodrigo De Paul ‘set to clear medical’ with Aston Villa given green signal
Aston Villa want to strengthen their midfield and have targeted Atletico Madrid star Rodrigo De Paul this summer.
Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has delivered a verdict on the 31-year-old’s potential move to the Premier League.
Last season, he played all but four league games, showcasing just how important he was to Diego Simeone’s side.

De Paul not expected to face issues clearing his medical
The Argentina international is not expected to face issues with his medical or adapting to the Premier League, according to Dr Brar.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “Last season, he played 34 league games and encountered no real injury issues.
“That’s always a positive when considering signing a player moving to a new league.
“He’s got experience of playing in different leagues and major tournaments, so should not take long to adapt.
“I don’t see him facing issues with his medical.”

Unai Emery can get the best out of De Paul at Aston Villa
Unai Emery can maximise De Paul’s potential by leveraging his versatility and work rate within a tailored 4-2-3-1 system.
De Paul, a dynamic midfielder, excels in ball progression and defensive duels, making him ideal for a box-to-box role at Aston Villa.
Emery should encourage the Argentine’s aggressive pressing and quick transitions, aligning with the Villa Park outfit’s high-intensity style in the 2024–25 Champions League campaign.
Positioning him as a No. 8 with freedom to join attacks while maintaining defensive discipline will unlock his creativity and goal threat.
Regular rotation to manage his workload ensures consistent performance, strengthening Villa’s midfield.
