Javi Guerra transfer agreement nears after Aston Villa approach
Javi Guerra is one of several impressive stars to be linked with a move to Aston Villa this summer.
The Villans are keen to strengthen their squad after missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification in agonising fashion last term, but Monchi and Co. know their transfer business is heavily dictated by financial concerns.
That hasn’t stopped Villa from being linked with moves for the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Jack Grealish, with the pair among a long list of players to have been mooted for a potential move to B6.
Guerra is another who has been touted for a potential switch to Villa Park, and it now looks as though the second city outfit are set to learn the result of their pursuit.

Man United are close to signing Guerra
Villa had reportedly made an approach to sign Guerra, and were among a group of clubs exploring the possibility of bringing in the 22-year-old.
AC Milan and Atletico Madrid were both thought to be part of that group who were keen on the Valencia man, but now it is Manchester United who seem best-placed to finalise a deal.
The Red Devils were not believed to be one of the initial interested parties, but they are now close to reaching an agreement to sign Guerra, according to Calcio Mercato journalist Daniele Longo (7 July).
Villa have seemingly stood still since their initial approach for Guerra, and that has seen them take a back seat in the chase for his services. Therefore, the midfielder now seems destined to be heading to Villa Park as an opposition player next term.
Villa need to outline their transfer approach
Earlier in the window, Villa also missed out on the signing of Norwegian youngster Sverre Nypan, and the latest update on Guerra serves as another reminder that Unai Emery’s side need to assess their approach carefully for the rest of the summer.
Financial concerns have undoubtedly made transfer business significantly harder, but the Villans are still yet to make a new signing this summer.
They have been tipped for several big-money deals for the likes of Garnacho and Grealish, but that would surely severely limit their ability to spend elsewhere.
However, they have also seemingly missed out on targets like Guerra and Nypan, who are more cost-effective options at present.
It is currently unclear exactly what Villa are targeting from their business this summer, but they need to think carefully as to whether an expensive statement signing would really be the best course of action.
