Aston Villa ‘depressing reality’ as international winger set for Everton medical
Aston Villa Women have had a controversial few months before the start of the new WSL season.
It was announced at the end of June that Villa have sold their women’s team to help it avoid a potential PSR breach.
The deal will see a 10 per cent stake sold to investors, with a view to selling the rest of it to Villa’s holding company.
The decision to sell the Aston Villa Women has been criticised. However, this may only be the beginning of the WSL side’s downfall.

Everton are closing in on Katie Robinson
More bad news seems to be coming out of Villa Park at the moment for Aston Villa Women.
According to BBC Sport (7 July), Everton are closing in on a deal to sign Katie Robinson.
The England international will join the Toffees on loan with an option to buy, with all parties confident of an agreement ahead of her medical on Wednesday (9 July).
While the winger was not outstanding during her debut season at Aston Villa, the 22-year-old is believed to have high potential and previously impressed at Brighton.

Therefore, the departure of Robinson is yet another blow as a depressing reality sets in at Villa Park.
It is clear that NSWE does not value the women’s team, and there is now a growing fear that further sales could be made.
This would be a massive waste, with the WSL growing in popularity season after season.
NSWE have to do more for Aston Villa Women
As it stands, it appears that NSWE’s sole focus is on the men’s game. While it is true that this is more popular and brings in more money, it is unacceptable to completely ignore the women’s team.
Given the recent developments in the WSL, Villa Women have an excellent opportunity to rise up the table and become one of the best teams in the country.
NSWE have to take advantage of this, as the commercial and financial gains of achieving this could be massive.
Hopefully, as the summer goes on, more positive developments will be made for the better of Villa Women.
