Ferran Torres stance shared as Aston Villa eye audacious Barcelona swoop

Aston Villa have identified Ferran Torres as a target this summer.

Unai Emery will be no stranger to the task ahead of him at Aston Villa, with a crucial few weeks in the build-up to the new Premier League campaign.

Several players have been linked with a move to Villa Park, with Torres appearing to be the latest to be mooted for a switch.

Ever since moving to Barcelona from Man City in 2022, the Spaniard has thrived in La Liga, but a move could be on the cards for him this summer.

Aston Villa want to bring Torres back to Premier League

With Marcus Rashford’s departure back to Man United, Aston Villa will certainly be in the market for some new attacking arrivals in the coming weeks.

Alejandro Garnacho has been loosely linked with a move, but the latest reports have Torres down as a target for the Villans.

That is according to Birmingham Mail (2 July), with their report stating that Villa are “seriously interested” in the services of the 25-year-old.

Torres has featured regularly for the La Liga giants over the last three years, but the potential arrival of Nico Williams could push him down the pecking order, opening the door for a move.

However, the report also adds that Torres is keen on the idea of staying at Barcelona, regardless of who else comes in.

Emery needs backing to take Villa to next level

The Villans had an excellent campaign last time out, though the gulf in quality between them and the teams above them was evident.

Emery doesn’t have the depth or starting quality of the teams that he needs to find a way to bridge the gap from, and this summer will provide him with the opportunity to change that.

Signings like that of Torres would go a long way towards achieving that, with some serious ambition needed in the coming weeks.
