Alan Brazil laughs at Agbonlahor for Aston Villa and Man United claim – ‘For sure’
Aston Villa and Manchester United faced very different prospects in the Premier League last season.
The Villans missed out on Champions League football in the final fixture of the campaign, while Ruben Amorim’s team finished 15th in the table.
While the Red Devils have history behind them, Unai Emery will be confident of making further progress in the coming months and hopefully win silverware.
With Ollie Watkins being linked with a move to Old Trafford, the England international has been advised to stay put at Villa Park.

Agbonlahor predicts Aston Villa to win Premier League before Man United
Agbonlahor has predicted that Villa will win the Premier League before Man United.
The former Villan was discussing Watkins’ potential move to the Reds Devils and suggested the Lions have a better chance of winning the English top flight sooner.
Agbonlahor doesn’t think the 29-year-old centre-forward should move to Old Trafford, and his title prediction left Alan Brazil laughing.
Team | Premier League position | Points |
Villa | 6 | 66 |
Man United | 15 | 42 |
Speaking on talkSPORT (3 July, 7:55), Shebahn Aherne asked: “Who’s likely to win the Premier League title first, Villa or Man United?”
Agbonlahor responded: “Villa for sure.”
Emery will be confident of winning Europa League next season
Emery’s record in the Europa League will instil confidence in fans that Villa might end their trophy drought next season.
While the Birmingham club appear to be far off from winning the Premier League title anytime soon, they are in a better position than Man United.
After their failed project under Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils turned towards Amorim to build a successful team, but the Portuguese manager has been underwhelming in recent months.
Villa will hope to get the likes of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio back after their impressive loan spells in the previous campaign.
The Englishman’s future at Old Trafford looks to be in its final chapter, while the Spanish playmaker will hope for regular game time away from Paris Saint-Germain next season.
It would make sense for Watkins to stay at Villa Park and potentially make history by lifting silverware in the coming months.
While the England international will arguably be unhappy about losing his place in the starting lineup towards the end of the previous campaign, Emery still clearly trusts him.
