Garnacho in ‘crazy’ Aston Villa situation amid transfer rumours

Alejandro Garnacho had the whole football world talking when photos emerged on social media of him wearing an Aston Villa shirt.

The Argentine winger has been linked with a move to Villa Park, but it’s unheard of for a professional footballer to push for a transfer this way.

Former Manchester United Louis Saha has added his thoughts on the debate surrounding Garnacho, labelling the furore surrounding him as ‘crazy’.

Garnacho situation labelled as ‘crazy’

Saha was at Old Trafford during the mid-2000s, which is a period of dominance for Manchester United.

In an interview with Coin Poker, the Frenchmen slammed Garnacho’s attitude and claimed the youngster would never have gotten away with wearing a rival team’s shirt back in his day.

He said: “It’s the type of things we see from new generations. To be honest, I can’t only blame Garnacho. The way the squad has been built, it’s why Garnacho thinks he has the right to do something like this, why he thinks he can make stupid comments and say things on social media.

“He already thinks he’s a top player, already makes demands, acts without respect. It’s a shame, but there are other factors than just the player.”

“If you score 20 or 30 goals a season, do what you want, demand what you want. Garnacho has five goals and he’s carrying on like this. It’s crazy.”

Interestingly enough, Villa’s interest in Garnacho has cooled off since the social media stunt, which saw him wearing a Villa home shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name on the back.

Chelsea and Napoli are now the bookies’ favourites to sign him. You can get odds of 10/1 from him to join Villa, which are the same odds of him remaining at Old Trafford.

Perhaps the stunt has backfired, as Unai Emery isn’t known as a coach who would put up with unprofessional behaviour from his players.

Villa need wingers, but perhaps Garnacho isn’t the best fit

There’s no doubt that Aston Villa need some new faces in attack before the Premier League starts.

They were reliant on loan stars like Rashford and Marco Asensio at the back end of last season, but these players have returned to their parent clubs.

On paper, Garnacho would be a fantastic acquisition. He’s only 21 years old and his is talent on the pitch cannot be questioned.

The question marks surround his attitude. One bad egg in the dressing room can destroy team spirit, and Emery will be aware of that.

The Spaniard had no problems with Rashford, who was also accused of attitude problems by Manchester United, but perhaps he’s not ready to take a risk on Garnacho, given his latest attempts to escape Old Trafford.

Villa have been linked with a permanent move for Asensio, and fans would surely be more excited about this transfer it does go through.
